For 12 years, Tara Armstead has taught and inspired students of all ages at The Joyce Ellis Dancers Dance Company in Washington, PA.  As a former student of the company, she has studied Jazz and Hip Hop extensively, along with many other forms of dance.  With the company, she has performed and choreographed several pre-game shows for Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cleveland Cavaliers games.

While attending the University of Pittsburgh, Tara was Co-Captain of the dance team and competed in three national championships.  As Captain of the dance team, she choreographed many half-time performances for Pitt Basketball games.

Tara also worked with the late choreographer Michael Peters on “The Jackson’s – American Dream” filmed in Pittsburgh, PA.  She has also studied in NYC from current top choreographers such as Brian Freedman, Chris Judd, and Rapsody James.  She is currently collaborating with Empire Elite of Pittsburgh, PA to host a Hip Hop conference featuring Broadway dance choreographers Kelly Peters, LUAM, and Ms. Vee.

Tara’s proudest accomplishments are her two children, Tony, 5, and Tyler, 2.
